The Programme...

Work With Words provides the information for you to develop the essential skills and knowledge to teach and support reading and writing confidently.

Gives you the knowledge and understanding so that you are confident to introduce a synthetic phonic approach to reading, writing and spelling.

Enables you to teach the information and skills that a child or struggling reader requires to read,
write and spell with confidence, using our alphabetic code. Learn the phoneme/grapheme correspondences, their variations and the skills to blend, segment and manipulate sounds.

Provides you with a clear pathway through the phonic structure of the English language. Enables you to use a wide variety of materials, many of which already exist in schools in conjunction with those provided by Work With Words.

Shows you how to deliver phonic skills and understanding to early and struggling readers. The programme encourages the reader to use their sensory awareness through the use of activities that are auditory, oral, kinaesthetic and visual. These multisensory activities engage, support and build confidence helping early and struggling readers relate directly to the phonic knowledge and skills that are required to be successful learners.

Informs you how to use assessment techniques that are standardised and diagnostic to enable you to monitor progress and inform you of the level of learning that is taking place. The screening of individual readers provides you with information about the extent of a child's knowledge and understanding of the skills requires to be successful readers and writers of our alphabetic code.

Work With Words introduces skills and information that learners need to understand about print. Only relevant skills and information are given so learners are not bombarded with extra gimmicks or animations that can confuse.
